Changes to Weis Coupon Policy

Yes, Weis at Stonehouse Square is changing their policy :(

I called over today to confirm, and was told that on the 10th of this month they will no longer accept store coupons from other stores.
One thing they will continue to accept are the catalina coupons that print out with your receipt from other stores.

Something that we have forgotten to talk about at class lately is that these coupons are almost always manufacturer coupons, but with a store logo on them.

Say you get one that prints out at Food Lion like above.  I don't know how well you can see the image, but in the top left it says Manufacturer CPN, and has the expiration.  There is a Food Lion logo, but it's coded and labeled as Manufacturer.  Technically, you could use this anywhere as a manufacturer Q, but there will be plenty of stores who don't understand that it is NOT a store coupon.

The catalina above is one that you'll see a lot of--$/$$ for a particular item.  Some stores (Martin's and Giant) will code the barcode so that it won't scan at another store (starts with 99).  If it begins with a 9 or 5 it will scan just fine at any store--including Wal-Mart!  Usually asking the cashier to try scanning it will convince him/her that it's a legit manufacturer coupon.

So, all of that said--Weis will continue to take these coupons with no problem, as long as it says Manufacturer Q at the top.

I am a bit disappointed that this store will no longer take other store coupons, but I have a feeling it will still be one of our favorites!

Can't say I'm surprised, last week when I was in I had a few that were from other stores. They didn't total more that $10.00 but they could not get their computer code to work for store coupons...everytime she used it it came up $1.00 off ham....but I had not purchased ham. They were very confused and frustrated by it.
