FoodLion Update!!!

I just got back from FoodLion and wanted to give you a little update, but first make sure you've read Millicent's post about the Food Lion deals this week!

I got $216.54 worth of groceries for $58.31 and I'm sure if you're careful you could do better. I got a few things that I needed (like lunchmeat and trash bags) that weren't necessarily the best deals.

Pay attention to the signage in the store. I went to the Foodlion in Greencastle and I thought the signs were misleading. For example; 2Liter bottles of Coke products are on BOGO sale this week, but there is also a huge display advertising the price of the 2 Liters at $0.99. The $0.99 price is the price of the soda after the BOGO sale. You actually pay $1.98 for 2 sodas and $0.99 for one. Country Time lemonade is the same way. It lists the price on the shelf as $1.75 and I got all excited thinking that I could get two Country Time lemonades for $1.75 since they are on BOGO sale, but the $1.75 is actually what you pay for one after the BOGO sale. Definitely a little misleading, so just pay attention to the price of things as you're checking out.

A few good deals that I got:
  • Ronzoni Pasta Thin Spagetti $1.39 BOGO Use $1/2 blinkie coupon to get (2) boxes for $0.39
Hamburger Helper $1.00 ea. Buy (6), Use (2) $0.75/3 coupons Get a $3 catalina on your next meat purchase. It's like paying $1.50 for (6) boxes!!!
  • Ground Chuck Value Pack B1G1 (use you're catalina from the above transaction to get this cheap)
  • Kraft Mac & Cheese dinners $0.98 BIGI Makes them $0.49 ea.
  • Progresso Classic Soups (tomato & chicken noodle) $1.00 Use $1/4 coupon to get these for $0.75 ea. WYB (4)
  • See THIS post for more deals on Kraft cheese and cream cheese!!!

don't forget that if you use the $5/5 Kraft to get the cream cheese, you can also grab one of the kraft cookbooks (on a display nearby) free! So 5 cream cheese and one (pretty good) cookbook for free!
