Great Local Deal on Apples!!! $7.00 a 1/2 bushel

I took my kiddos apple picking a few days ago. We go every year, it's one of our fall traditions, but this was the first time I realized what a good deal it was!!! Paying $0.99 lb at a grocery store is NOT a good deal! Paying $7.00 for a 1/2 bushel bag that you pick yourself is a good deal and you're making sweet memories in the process!
So this weekend head out to Gardenhour's Orchard in Smithsburg, Md and pick some apples as a family!
Monday-Saturday 8am-5pm

Go HERE to get directions!
Have fun! Leave a comment if you end up going! It's the most beautiful orchard I've ever seen!

Judy, thanks for the heads-up about the orchard. We've driven by it for years but never gone before today. Took my family and had a blast! Beautiful orchard, fun memories, great photo ops ... plus a warm apple pie in my kitchen and a half bushel waiting to end up in more delicious fall recipes!

Another orchard that has pick your own apples is Johnson's orchard in St. Thomas. They are $5 for 1/2 bushel. You just need to bring your own containers to bring the apples home in. I think they have an ad in the Franklin Shopper that lists the different varieties of apples. My parents took my son at the beginning of the month and got Honey Crisp and Ozark apples.
