Couponing and Computer Viruses!!!!!! READ THIS!!!

If you've been couponing for awhile you know that on a daily basis you click on all kinds of different sites that you honestly really don't know anything about. It is so important that you take the time to PROTECT your computer!!! Computer viruses can cost a lot of money to get ride of. I've even had one that completely fried my computer and I had to get a new one. Printing a coupon for a dollar off something is not worth the risk of a virus if you have not protected your computer. I have learned the hard way!!!

I am no computer expert, but I do know that your computer should have updated anti-virus software on it. Many times this software comes with your computer for a trial period of time and then if you don't renew it, you are left with nothing!! Most internet companies offer some sort of anti-virus protection as part of signing a contract with them. Comcast high speed internet offers a Norton Security Suite for FREE when you have Comcast internet, but you have to allow to program to update and scan your computer rather frequently, otherwise the program becomes outdated. Computer hackers are constantly changing viruses so the anti-virus software needs to update itself.

There have been many, many couponers who have had problems with coupons.com in recent days. Coupons.com released a statement explaining their side of things and assured people that the site was safe. Unfortunately there are still reports of problems. I have not personally had a problem ( I did print coupons from the site a few days ago) but I think I'm going to avoid their site for awhile :( I don't want to take any chances!!

While we're on the topic of protecting yourself....I strongly advise you to have a junk email address that you use when you sign up for samples and freebies!!! I have a junk email address that I rarely ever check and that's where I send all the spam that I get from all the random companies that send me coupons, samples and freebies. Many times I am not very familiar with the company that is offering a sample, so I don't want their emails to start flooding the inbox of my regular email address. You can get a computer virus by opening an email that contains a virus. You can sign up for an extra email address at gmail.com or hotmail.com or yahoo.com! Do it today!!

I'm pretty positive it is coming from coupons.com somehow,. I just bought a new computer, my old one died on Sun. Just wouldn't boot up. Had problems starting Fri. Logged into coupons.com tonight and my new anti-virus software detected 359 trojans. Probably going to stay away also for a while!

Sean...I'm thinking so, too. At first I thought maybe not, but now I'm convinced it is. I'm sorry you guys are having trouble :(

It's ok, I'm just praying I can get all my music, pictures and some documents from our old computer. We actually got a smoking deal on an HP PC for $460 at Walmart in the clearance section. It has like 650 RAM and 1 TER memory? Way better than my 7 yr old Dell! Just wasn't planning on the purchase.
