What's your dream??

Financially speaking I have a few dreams.....

1. I want to pay off my house. Now just so you know, that doesn't even seem realistic at this point, but it's my dream.

2. I want to continue to stay home with my kids.

Note to self: Number 1 and number 2 don't work so well together!! Ha! Maybe #2 is the reason we're not making much progress on #1!!

3. And I want to be able to give more...specifically to a ministry very close to my heart in Haiti.

Those are my financial dreams.

That's why I coupon. Not because I have to, but because I want to stay at home with my kids, pay off my house one day in the much, much distant future and have extra money to care for orphans.

BUT.....

I constantly have to fight the urge of "the good deal!!!"

Anybody with me???

Honestly, I could send us to the poor house buying "good deals."

When I see that red 75% off sticker at Target and I know what a good deal it is....it's so hard to walk away.

Sure I don't need 9 pairs of designer sunglasses, but when they're only $4 a pair it's just a little hard to pass up such a good deal!

No one ever dreams of having a big house full of stuff they bought on sale, but you can easily begin to slide down that slippery slope when you become an extreme couponer.

It's so important to remember to buy only what you really NEED and don't be afraid to pass on a "good deal!!" Write down your financial goals and remind yourself over and over again that those are your goals and that's why you're couponing. Don't get tricked into buying some razor scooter, just because it was an amazing deal!!!

I am a big advocate of having a weekly grocery budget and sticking to it. I also know that quite frequently I go over my budget because of some "good deal" I can stock up on.

So what are your financial dreams??? Why do you coupon??? Is couponing helping you achieve any of your financial dreams???

Judy, thank you so much for this blog! It truly spoke to me and I actually put down an amazing deal at Martins yesterday. I am a stay at home mom doing my best to stay on budget, "good deals" get me almost every week...thanks again:)

I'm still eating eggo waffles from a "good deal" that Martin's had way back in September. I too, am trying to be more concious of giving into buying something because it's a good deal. Soooooo hard!!!
